The ’24 Marlin Tournament season has been thrilling, and Tantrum’s latest victory has added a spectacular chapter to this year’s story. With our second win of the season, the team has firmly established itself as a powerhouse in the competitive fishing community.
History of the 50lb Invitational Pacific Cup
The Pacific Cup is the newest tournament in Kona, only in its 3rd year. Teams from the South Pacific joined us in Kona last week for a great event. Like the famous HIBT, teams in the tournament rotate on different boats daily throughout the five days of fishing. Boats and Teams accumulate their points throughout the week.

Behind every great victory is a well-coordinated team. While our tournament crew of Anthony Riccio and Mitch Shiels were steadfast in the cockpit, we asked Ryan O’Halloran to captain for the week, as Nick was out of town celebrating his mom’s birthday. They all delivered!

First Win of the Season
Tantrum’s first win earlier in the season, “Kona Kick Off,” set the tone for their performances this tournament season. The victory was the result of meticulous planning and great execution. The team’s ability to adapt to changing conditions and quick decision-making were key factors in securing the win.

The tournament featured some of the best teams in the harbor, each vying for the top spot. Rival teams like Cormorant, Maverick, Siesta, and Hi-Flier all had moments of success throughout the week.

With two wins already in the bag, Tantrum is gearing up for the two remaining tournaments of the season. The “Big Island Marlin Tournament” will be held in August, and the “It’s a Wrap Tournament” will be held in September.
