Our long-time repeat client from the mainland, Darwin James, just wrapped up another unforgettable Kona, Hawaii Fishing trip aboard Tantrum Sportfishing. As we shift from the lively spring bite into the early days of summer, the waters off Kona are full of surprises — and you never know what will come crashing in on our spread of custom Tantrum Lures.
On Tuesday, Darwin hit the jackpot. He went 1-2 on blue marlin, 1-1 on striped marlin, and 1-1 on spearfish, landing his first-ever Grand Slam — an achievement any angler dreams of. For those unfamiliar, a Grand Slam in Kona Hawaii fishing means catching three different billfish species in a single day. It’s no small feat, and Darwin was all smiles when we pulled back into the harbor.
We’re not done yet, either! We have three more days of fishing lined up to close out an already incredible month of May. Once June rolls in, we head into the prime summer stretch — the heart of the season when the big fish stories are written.
