Kona Charter Fishing is a success for our Kiwi Clients. On Saturday, we finished a tremendous six-day charter with the Kiwi boys from Hawkes Bay. Without sounding spoiled, the fishing wasn’t red hot but solid. We caught nine blues over the six days, and the usual spearfish and ono to keep the riggers rattling. At 3:30 pm yesterday, Saturday afternoon, our primary contact in the group, Jeremy and Nick, were up on the bridge debriefing on what a fun trip it had been. We were making our final run for the day, and a beautiful mark appeared on the sonar before us. Short story long, a nice one popped up on our long rigger and ate the Medium Bullet. We suspected it wasn’t hooked (it was) and rushed it, which resulted in an inspiring six-minute fight with some beautiful big jumps close to the boat and on the leader. We removed the TTS TANTRUM 10/0, let it go, and called it 650. What a great way to cap off a great trip with the boys!
We are looking forward to having them back sometime.
There’s some quality about at the moment. That’s our third fish of that class in the last week. We are excited for our next five-day trip, which started today with team Tantrum from Sydney!
